The village received an award from the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Police Department's efforts to crack down on speeders have earned it an award from the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). Police on Monday announced the department has received the 2018 Illinois Speed Awareness Day Excellence Award.
"Speeding has consistently been one of the top citizen complaints in the Village of Plainfield, as well as the leading cause of crashes within the Village and nationwide," police said on Facebook. "The Plainfield Police Dept. has aggressively enforced the speeding within the Village with numerous education campaigns and thousands of tickets written each year."
The third annual Illinois Speed Awareness Day was July 25. The event is aimed at "preventing deaths, tragedies, and reducing injuries on our highways due to excessive speeding."
