Plainfield Police Reveal Results From Enforcement Over Course Of 2026 Fiscal Year

From Oct. 1, 2025, to Sept. 30, 2026, police increased enforcement efforts to reduce crashes and save lives on Plainfield roadways.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Over the course of the 2026 fiscal year, Plainfield police issued a total of 82 citations, officials revealed last week.

The Plainfield Police Department participated in the 2026 Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program in an effort to reduce crashes and save lives on Illinois roads.

This is the breakdown for citations issued between Oct. 1, 2025, and Sept. 30, 2026:

  • 48 seat belt citations
  • 9 speeding citations
  • 3 cell phone citations
  • 21 other traffic citations

Officers also made one arrest related to driving under the influence and four for traffic violations, according to a news release.

The citations and arrests were part of high-visibility traffic safety campaigns, including "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket." Police focused on "the most dangerous driving behaviors," including impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving and failure to wear seat belts.

"The goal of this enforcement was to make our roads safer for everyone," Sgt. Dino Dabezic said in a statement. "By targeting the leading causes of crashes, we aimed to save lives and send a clear message that unsafe driving will not be tolerated."
