Plainfield Police Reveal Results From St. Patrick's Day Enforcement

The enforcement effort resulted in tickets for speeding, distracted driving and improper seat belt use, police said.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Police Department shared Wednesday the results of its St. Patrick's Day enforcement campaign, revealing officers wrote 51 citations.

From March 13-23, Plainfield police joined Illinois State Police, the Illinois Department of Transportation and a plethora of local agencies to stop drivers impaired by alcohol, cannabis or other drugs.

Officers wrote tickets for the following violations:

  • 23 improper seat belt use
  • 13 speeding
  • 1 distracted driving
  • 14 others, including disobeying traffic control devices, failure to signal, headlight out, and no insurance

The enforcement effort was paid for by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
