Plainfield’s Deer Crossing Project Abandoned for 10 Years
The Plainfield Deer Crossing Project that started in 2007; now lies abandoned and vandalized.
Approximately ten years ago McNaughton Development abandoned the Deer Crossing Project because of the sluggish housing market. McNaughton stopped the project shortly after building sections of the streets and moved their business elsewhere.
About 3 years later, the entrance to Deer Crossing was blocked off by two concrete road barriers, making no direct street leading to the neighborhood. The alternate route to the neighborhood is a dirt path located on the side of Ridge Rd.

Now McNaughton’s Deer Crossing Project lies as a wasteland and a nearby hangout for teenagers of all ages. The large flag has been stolen, windows have been shattered, and the entrance has been vandalized. Towards the front lays two shattered TVs and an old mattress.
The company’s website says nothing on the continuation of the forgotten neighborhood. McNaughton has not said anything ever since the project started.
