Plainfield School Board Candidate Forum Set for Monday
CAPE will host the event on April 1.

District 202’s committee for the Coordination of Administration and Parents Groups for Educational Efficiency (CAPE) will host a forum for the five District 202 Board of Education candidates at 7 p.m. Monday, April 1, at the district administrative center, 15732 Howard St., Plainfield.

The forum is open to the community and a reception with light refreshments will follow. CAPE was formed 37 years ago. It serves as an umbrella organization for all of District 202’s school parent groups and administrators to share information, concerns and ideas to promote district unity.
Five candidates are vying for four seats that are up for election on April 9, 2013. The candidates in ballot position order are: incumbents Michelle Smith and Rod Westfall; and challengers William Slabich Jr., William Dargan and Anne Walchshauser.

Veteran moderator Robert Stone will facilitate the forum, which is expected to last about one hour.
CAPE traditionally holds a Board of Education candidates’ forum. A recording of this event will be posted on the CAPE web ite on April 2, 2013.
“We firmly believe that it is imperative for voters to have an accurate understanding of the position of each candidate,” said CAPE 2nd Vice President Betsey Vinson. “A public forum for all candidates is an effective means of achieving this goal.”
