Boyce started her education career in 1990. She taught first, second, third and fourth grades, and several multi-age classrooms for 10 years in Oswego District 308 and another year in Palatine before moving to administration.
She also served two years as assistant principal, and two more as principal in Oswego before coming to District 202 in 2007.
“Mrs. Boyce has done an excellent job at Thomas Jefferson, particularly with opening up a new building during a period of tremendous challenges,” said Mark Heiss, director for elementary administration and personnel.
Boyce said she is excited for the new opportunity.
“As for any educator, the chance for continued growth is always exciting. I have truly enjoyed my time and experiences at Thomas Jefferson, and I really equally look forward to working with new staff and students and families at Freedom,” Boyce said.
Weed started her education career in 2007 in District 202. She taught fifth grade for a year at Walker’s Grove Elementary, and fifth grade for another three years at Eichelberger Elementary when that school opened in 2008. Weed was named assistant principal at Eagle Pointe at 2011.
“Laura Weed has done a great job at Eagle Pointe, and we expect her to continue many of the great things that have happened there in the last ten years under Mr. Fink,” Heiss said.
“I am really looking forward to continuing the traditions we have at Eagle Pointe, and also being innovative with new ideas and technology for student success,” Weed said. “I am very excited to work with a great population of staff, students and family.”
