Plainfield Schools Purchase 6,700 Laptops For Remote Learning
Plainfield students will now have better access to computers, thanks to a large purchase made by Plainfield District 202.
PLAINFIELD, IL – Plainfield students who are learning remotely this school year will now have better access to computers, thanks to a large purchase made by Plainfield District 202.
The district announced last week it purchased 6,700 additionally laptops specifically for pre-kindergarten through third grade students to use for remote learning. Students should expect to receive their laptops by mid- to late-October.
Students in District 202 began their school year on Aug. 31 remotely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This purchase follows a similar purchase of 10,000 laptops earlier this summer for 4th-12th grade students for remote learning. The district has spent about $7 million on laptops to help students learn remotely, according to a news release from the district.
While the pre-K to third grade curriculum does not require a computer for students to participate, families have requests laptops for their younger students to learn on.
