Plainfield Schools Win Big At Robotics Competition
Students from District 202 middle schools took home trophies at the Will County contest.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Ira Jones Middle School won second place overall and John F. Kennedy Middle School place third overall during the 2017 4-H Will County Regional Robotics competitions held on April 22 and 29.
Teams from Aux Sable and Timber Ridge middle schools also brought home trophies from the competitions in which members built robots based on the theme “HealthBots.”
The student teams designed and programmed robots that would make healthy choices involving food or exercise.

Robots were required to complete tasks like avoiding unhealthy foods, assembling a plate of food based on federal government guidelines, and doing exercise such as playing soccer or lifting weights.
More than 450 students competed from 75 teams from Will County schools.

Here are the winners from District 202 middle schools:
Aux Sable
· Best Teamwork: Sophia Geron, Ivan Almazan, Evin Lloyd, Brian James “BJ” Sorg, Joshua McGuigan, Adriel Rivas (all sixth graders).
Ira Jones
· Reserve Champion or Second Place overall: Ayan Khan, Caleb Ternig, Danny Kotowski, Alex Pena and Ethan Witek (all seventh graders).
· Team Spirit: Clayton Barma, eighth grade, Austin Moore, eighth grade, Zander Moore, sixth grade, Donavin Ragusa, sixth grade, and Isam Ahmad, sixth grade.
· Best Programming: Ryan Casey, Daniel Gaull, Evan Restuccia, Joe Cosentino, Michael Carlson and Clay Klatt (all eighth graders).
John F. Kennedy
· Third Place overall and First Place in Robot Design: Eighth graders Ethan Haque, Alex Middleton, Saumya “Sam” Madhan and Aaron McAdam; and seventh grader Tristan Caldwell.
Timber Ridge
· Best Programming: Ryan Kelly, seventh grade, Lucas Forbear, seventh grade, Aryan Rogye, seventh grade, Luis Correa, sixth grade, Jose Alfonso Macias, seventh grade, and Christian Solis, sixth grade.
· Best Robot Design: Alex Dvorak, Kadin Parent, Aramis Rivera, Marc Petrauskas and Scott Bashton (all sixth graders).
