Plainfield Sex Offender Arrested After Being Found in Public Park: Police

A convicted sex offender from Plainfield was back in jail Monday after he was allegedly spotted at a public park.
Jonathan A. Fogelman, 21, of 13122 S. Merganser, Plainfield, was convicted this year of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Fogelman was arrested in March 2013, accused of having child porn on his cell phone and abusing a 13-year-old friend of his family in the summer of 2012.

In April, Fogelman was sentenced to three years in prison on the sex abuse conviction and 2-1/2 years probation on a companion child pornography charge. According to Will County records, he was released Aug. 28 on a $50,000 recognizance bond.
According to Will County jail records, Fogelman was arrested Monday by Will County Forest Preserve Police and charged with being a sex offender at a public park. Shortly after his arrest, Fogelman was released on a no-cash bond, jail records show.

Illinois Department of Corrections records show that Fogelman is listed as a sexual predator.
Registered sex offenders are prohibited from living within 500 feet of a school, day care center, youth center or other facility that caters to children younger than 18 years old. They are also prohibited from passing out candy on Halloween and may not appear in a Halloween costume or other child-centered holiday character, such as Santa or the Easter Bunny, in public.
In addition to the sex abuse conviction, Fogelman pleaded guilty in 2013 to reckless driving and was sentenced to 18 months of conditional discharge and required to enroll in DUI school. He also pleaded guilty to a 2012 charge of driving under the influence of drugs in Channahon, and was ordered to undergo substance abuse counseling and placed on one year of court supervision, court records show.
According to IDOC, there are 26 registered sex offenders living in Plainfield.
