Plainfield South Bass Fishing Team Starts the Fall Season “ Smoking Hot “

With a Tournament Victory on Lake Decatur the Teams Fifth Victory in 5 Years!

It was in the Upper 90’s on a lake nobody on the team has ever been too in the end of August. These are not the 3 conditions you would enjoy fishing. 3 teams from Plainfield South High School Bass Fishing Team accepted this challenge and one of those teams beat the other 26 teams in the tournament. Coach Bud Edmunds , Justin Malatia and Aiden Bollinger were up for the challenge and they won the Bass tournament with only 3 fish for 11 lbs. Justin Malatia caught the Big Bass of the Tournament 5.25 lbs. on a Fish Hog Punch Jig in Green Pumpkin on 10 lb. Extra Clear McCoy Fishing line on a Fox River Rod.

Aiden Bollinger landed a 4+ Pounder and the other keeper to round out the 11lb creel. This victory is the Fifth Victory in the last 5 years for Plainfield South. All 5 Victories had 5 different Coaches and 10 different anglers. P.S.H.S. Bass fishing team has various 2nd-10^th place finishes also including the 2017 Illinois B.A.S.S. Nation State Championship and a trip to the B.A.S.S. Nationals on Kentucky Lake.

The Tournament on Sunday on Lake Decatur was the First Fall Tournament on the Illinois High School Bass Fishing League. Besides bragging rights they also won 2 very nice Lews Bait casting Rod and Reel combos, Solar Bat Polarized Sun glasses, and a Dixieland Tackle . John Whalen, the Tournament Director of the Illinois High School Bass Fishing League who lives in Champaign Illinois Has dedicated a tremendous amount of time and effort in promoting High School Bass Fishing. He has given the High school anglers more opportunities to get out on the water and learn about Bass tournament fishing. John’s hard work and dedication to the sport has teams from Northern Illinois traveling down South to compete on great fisheries!
