Plainfield Students Earn Honors at Speech Tourney
Individual team members competed in 14 categories.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Five Plainfield High School-Central Campus and Plainfield North High School students placed in the top 10 at the second annual Fall Classic speech tournament on Saturday November 19, 2016.
PNHS hosted the tournament. Speech teams from 20 District 202-area high schools competed, including Plainfield East High School, PNHS and PHSCC, according to a news release from the district.
Individual team members competed in 14 categories including Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Acting Duet, Original Comedy, Poetry Reading and Radio Speaking.

Scores from each category were used to determine the final team score.
PHSCC finished ninth overall and PEHS came in 16th out of 20 teams. As the host team, Plainfield North’s finish was not counted in the final standings.

The top five high schools were: Wheaton North, Lemont, Joliet West, Lyons and Joliet Central.
Individual tournament winners from District 202 include:
Plainfield High School – Central Campus
- Kaiya Hietikko and Nicholas Prah (seniors) -- third place, Humorous Acting Duet
- Nicholas Prah, (senior) -- third place, Impromptu Speaking
- Jacob Hawkins, (senior) -- sixth place, Original Oratory
Plainfield North High School
- Divya Francis, (senior) and Joe Nuzzi, (junior) -- sixth place, Humorous Acting Duet
