Plainfield Students Get Chartered Metra For Prom

School officials say train option was unique, cheaper and quicker.

Students at Plainfield East High School not only got to go to prom, they were able to make history with their arrival.

WGN TV reports that 700 students arrived at Chicago’s Union Station for prom night using a chartered Metra train, believed to be the first in the transit agency’s history.

It cost about $10,000 to charter the express train. School officials say they usually charter buses to safely transport their students into the city for prom night, but this option was unique, cheaper, and quicker.
