Cops Seek Info On Motorcycle Crash That Killed Plainfield Teen

PLAINFIELD, IL — A teenage motorcyclist died late Friday after a crash along Route 59. The Will County Coroner's office said Johnson D. Ho, 18, of Plainfield, was pronounced dead at 11:02 p.m. near the intersection of Route 59 and Dayfield Drive.

Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton said crews responded to a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and a van at around 10:25 p.m. to find a motorcycle on fire and the occupant deceased. Two male occupants were in the van and refused treatment at the scene, according to Stratton.

Police said the van was heading east on Dayfield Drive as the motorcycle was traveling north on Route 59 when the crash occurred.

Stratton said Ho was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was the sole occupant of the motorcycle. An autopsy was slated for Saturday, according to the coroner's office. Plainfield police said the roadway was closed for five hours as the department's crash reconstruction unit investigated the incident.
