Plainfield Trustees Consider Plan to Cap Attendance at Wounded Warrior 5K
Also on Monday's agenda: Rowhome proposal, change to traffic signal project.

Village trustees will vote Monday on a proposal that would limit participation in an annual 5K to benefit local servicemen and women injured in the line of duty.
A proposal on the Aug. 11 agenda calls for limiting the number of runners to 1,200 for the popular event, held in Settlers’ Park. The race kicks off Memorial Day weekend.

This year, more than 1,400 people signed up for the 5K. The 2015 event is scheduled for Saturday, May 23.
In years past, proceeds from the event have helped organizer Operation Welcome You Home provide funding for specialized wheelchairs for wounded veterans, as well as sponsoring rooms at the new hospice unit at Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Administration Hospital.

Rowhomes at Prairie Creek
Also on the agenda is a request for a special use for a planned development for the Rowhomes at Prairie Creek, a 149-unit townhome development slated to be built on 64 acres near Route 59 and 135th Street. The board will also vote on rezoning to R-4 residential for the property.
Developer Ryan Homes has plans to build three-story townhomes on the site.
Another item up for a vote is the funding for a traffic signal to be installed at Route 126 and Meadow Lane; a proposal would appropriate $58,650 for the village’s share of the IDOT project. That’s $4,000 more than trustees approved for the project in June.
The meeting is set for 7 p.m. Monday at Village Hall, 24401 W. Lockport St. Click here to view the agenda.
