Plainfield Wine and Cheese Shop to Hold 12-Year Anniversary Celebration

Tickets for the Wine & Cheese by TCC 12th anniversary event are $25 and can be purchased in-store or over the phone.

PLAINFIELD, IL — 12 years ago, two local women and banker friends decided to fulfill their dream by opening a wine shop in downtown Plainfield. Dubbing themselves “Two Clueless Chicks,” they defied the odds and have flourished. The business has even been recognized by WGN-TV "Chicago's Best" and was awarded with the distinction of Plainfield Chamber of Commerce "Restaurant of the Year."

A dozen years later, the owners of Wine & Cheese by TCC have expanded the fine wine and artisan cheese shop to include craft beers, spirits and a popular Cafe, serving Weekend Brunch, lunch, cheese and
charcuterie plates, dinner and dessert daily.

To share their enthusiasm, owners Anna Trost and Beth McNichol are planning an anniversary celebration unlike any event they've hosted. A unique event set for Saturday, Sept. 10, will showcase both their passion for wine and food, and their commitment to supporting other area businesses.

The Wine & Cheese by TCC 12th Anniversary Event is planned for Saturday, Sept. 10, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., with doors opening at noon for guests with pre-paid reservations. A full tasting will be featured, and the $25 cost will include a commemorative tasting glass. The event will be held adjacent to the shop, located at 24104 W. Lockport Street in historic downtown Plainfield. Guests will have an opportunity to sample wines, craft beers, spirits, cheese and specialty foods. Entertainment will be provided by a local jazz singer and a pianist throughout the day.

"We're excited to offer guests a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with these local providers of our best products," said Anna Trost, who runs the day-to-day operations at Wine & Cheese by TCC. “From the wines we offer, the spirits in our craft cocktails, and the organic ingredients in our specialty foods, the range and resources of local experts under one roof is very exciting," she added.

Local craft brewers, wineries, a distiller, produce market, and coffee bean roaster will be participating in the afternoon event, along with area musicians. Peter Rubi will be on hand to share their fresh produce and new Plainfield business, Ten Drops Coffee Lab, will be there to feature some of their products. Tailwinds Distillery, whose American Rum and 100% Blue Agave are used in the Shop's cocktails, will be represented, along with local brewers including Werk Force Brewing Co., Revolution Brewing and Banging Gavel Brews. Walter Ornelas, the Banging Gavel Brewmaster, is a former employee of Wine & Cheese by TCC, and will be discussing his craft beers with guests.

Another popular local vendor at the event will be Piperfield Wines, which are sold under the 5K and 10K labels. Trost and McNichol are committed to championing the quality products and community commitment of these local vendors. According to McNichol, “Dawn Piper, of Piperfield Wines, has been supporting us since we opened so it’s great to be able to work with her. Piperfield Wines donates a portion of their profits to local charities which makes everyone feel even better when enjoying their wines."
