Amber Dixon, a 27-year-old resident of Plainfield, was traveling northbound on Plainfield-Naperville Rd. to her job in Bolingbrook Thursday, July 16, when she was involved in a hit and run.
Somebody in a Mazda had sideswiped her car and she wasn’t able to get a good look at the driver.

“They just kept driving,” Dixon said.

Dixon pulled off to the side of the road. When she called the police, they told her not to worry about following the vehicle.
That’s when a man and woman in a car pulled up to her with the license plate of the Mazda that had hit her. The couple had seen the hit and run happen and took it upon themselves to make sure the perpetrator didn’t get away with it.
Dixon was on the phone with police when they showed back up and wasn’t able to properly thank them. Now she hopes the man and woman will come forward so she can express her gratitude.
“I was trying to talk to dispatch,” Dixon said. “I think I was in a state of panic at the time. I said thanks to them and they just took off and I didn’t get a name, I didn’t get a license plate and I really didn’t get a good look at their car.”
Dixon works retail, which means she sometimes has to deal with customers that aren’t so pleasant. So when someone took the time to do a thoughtful and kind thing, Dixon didn’t want to let a good deed go without expressing her gratitude.
“I just want to pay a little respect to somebody who did something nice for me and brighten things up a little bit,” Dixon said.
Dixon described the man and woman as being in their early to mid-20s, Caucasian and with dark hair.
They handed her a piece of paper with the license plate written down on it. On the other side was a note that said “Make food list for hiking trip.” That’s pretty much the only clue she has.
“With all the hate going on in the world, sometimes it only takes a small thing to make someone’s day just a little bit brighter,” Dixon wrote on Facebook.
