A Plainfield woman whose apartment was lost in the April 30 fire on Ottawa St. and Fox River Rd. has had a Go Fund Me account set up for her.
Allyson Figas said she was not at home when the fire broke out. She was with her friend Mike Haldorson, who created the fundraiser for her. They were planning to return to her apartment later in the evening. When they arrived, Figas thought it was someone else’s building that was on fire, but soon realized it was her own.

She lost everything.
“There’s a little bit of the kitchen sink that was left,” Figas said.

Figas is living with Haldorson until she can afford to get a new place. She doesn’t have a bank account and all of her savings were lost in the fire.
Figas said she is planning on sharing half of the money raised with her neighbor, who was at home at the time of the fire and also lost everything.
