PLAINFIELD, IL — The last day of summer might officially be Sept. 22, but that doesn't stop people from preparing for fall sooner. In Plainfield, summer Sundays are marked by the weekly farmers market, which is coming to an end this week, with the final market day sept for Sept. 12.

Taking place in the parking lot of the Plainfield Public Library, at 15025 S. Illinois St., the farmers market starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. Customers can stock up on fresh groceries, from fruits and veggies to flowers and handmade crafts.

Aimed at bringing people to downtown Plainfield, the farmers market promotes local vendors and health foods, Suzy Bostanche, the market's manager, told Patch earlier this summer.
