Plans Move Forward For Restaurant In Former Larry's Diner Spot
The Village Board approved a liquor license for Sushi Uni.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plans are moving forward for the Japanese restaurant that is taking over the former Larry's Diner spot in Plainfield.
The Village Board approved Monday night a liquor license for Sushi Uni, under construction at 24522 W. Lockport St. Owners requested a Class F liquor license, which authorizes the sale of all alcoholic liquor for consumption on the premises as well as some package liquor sales.
Owners of Sushi Uni, who also operate a restaurant outside Kansas City, Missouri, promised to bring the location to "its former popularity," Patch reported.

Larry's Diner closed in May 2023 after first opening in 2000. Investors purchased the building last fall, and in March, a fire broke out at the building, causing more than $200,000 in damage, Patch reported. Arson charges were filed against two 14-year-olds.
