Cooking was one of Martha’s greatest joys and one of the many ways she showed her love. She possessed an incredible talent for creating delicious meals without ever needing a recipe or measuring ingredients. Family and friends always looked forward to gathering around her table, knowing they would be treated to something memorable. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday because it allowed her to prepare each of her children’s favorite dishes and bring the entire family together. Those celebrations were when she was happiest. Her orange cake, homemade cheese, tamales, atole, and handmade tortillas will be especially missed, as each was lovingly prepared and shared with those she cherished most. For Martha, food was more than nourishment—it was an expression of love, care, and togetherness.

Above all else, Martha loved her family. Nothing brought her greater happiness than having her loved ones gathered together. Her legacy of love, generosity, faith, and devotion will continue through the many lives she touched and the family she treasured so deeply.

Martha is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Roberto Alvarez; her children, Hector (Silvia) Alvarez, Roberto Alvarez Jr., Maria G. (Sergio) Bolanos, Alma R. (Roberto) Garcia, Lorena (Rogelio) Nunez, and Patricia Alvarez; her grandchildren, Hector, Eric, Brian, Giovanni, Cynthia, Chelsea, Lizbeth, Yoselin, Roberto, Analhi, Andrew, Alec, and Kate; and her great-grandchildren, Audrey, Liam, Wesley, Ariana, Diego, Nicolas, and Santino.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Uriel and Aurora (nee Garcia) Soto.

Martha’s love, laughter, unwavering faith, and dedication to her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Her memory will live on in every family gathering, every shared meal, and every story told around the table she so lovingly filled.
