Register to Vote at the Plainfield Library on National Voter Registration Day Tuesday, Sept. 27

Do you need to register to vote? Stop by the Library on National Voter Registration Day, Tuesday, Sept. 27.

PLAINFIELD – The Plainfield Public Library is celebrating National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, Sept. 27. While the public is able to register to vote at the Library at any open registration time throughout the year, on Sept. 27 Library staff will be available in the Library’s lower level all day, encouraging others to register to vote. The Library is located at 15025 S. Illinois St. in downtown Plainfiel

If a person has recently changed their name, address, political party, or has turned 18, they should re-register to vote.

National Voter Registration Day was created to encourage others to get registered so that they don’t miss the deadline before an upcoming election. This year’s deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 11 and the next election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

In order to vote in the state of Illinois, voters need to be a U.S. citizen; be a resident of Illinois for at least 30 days; be at least 18 years old (with an exception to some 17-year-olds); not be convicted of an offense and be in jail; and not be registered to vote in another state.
