Rose Cerrillos, formerly of Chicago, IL, St. John, IN, Romeoville, IL, Crest Hill, IL, and Cary, NC.

Rose was a career secretary for the City of Chicago until her retirement.

Rose Cerrillos (née Milczewski), age 89, a resident of Plainfield, IL, formerly of Chicago, IL, St. John, IN, Romeoville, IL, Crest Hill, IL, and Cary, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in Sparta, TN.

Rose was born on October 7, 1936, in Chicago, IL to Chester and Dorthy (née Stachowski) Milczewski - one of eight children.

In 1955 Rose married the love of her life Bill Cerrillos and together they built a life they loved.

Rose was a career secretary for the City of Chicago until her retirement.

Rose and Bill loved to be outdoors and explore the world around them with their sons, making memories that lasted a lifetime. Rose loved desserts and was the embodiment of “life is short, eat chocolate!” Rose will always be remembered as her family’s biggest cheerleader, never missing an opportunity to be supportive and making sure she was the loudest one there.

In addition to her parents, Rose is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and her siblings, Marie, Louise, Theresa, Sylvester, Chester, and Richard.

Rose is survived by her two sons, Dave (Marge) and Tony (Michelle), Grandchildren, Amanda (Brian), Olivia (Luis), Breanna, Alexis (Joey), Jason, and Tyler. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas and her lifelong friend and sister in Christ, Sister Damian, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

In respecting Rose’s wishes, she will be taken back home to Illinois to be laid to rest with her husband Bill.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, 4:00-8:00 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Rd. (Corner of Rt. 30 & Rt. 59), Plainfield, IL 60544.

Everyone will meet to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 7, 10:30 AM at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 15629 S. Rt. 59, Plainfield, IL 60544.

Family and friends will meet Saturday, 12:30 PM at the office in Resurrection Cemetery, 7201 Archer Road, Justice, IL 60458, (708) 458-4770. Committal services will be held at the cemetery chapel.

Everyone is invited to a luncheon reception at Jen's Guesthouse, 8989 Archer Ave., Willow Springs, IL 60480, (708) 839-8000, after the cemetery services.
