The Will County Children's Advocacy Center was founded in 1995 by State's Attorney James Glasgow to partner with multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) comprised of law enforcement, DCFS investigators, medical personnel, prosecutors, and Will County CAC forensic interviewers, family advocates, and trauma therapists in response to reports of severe physical abuse, sexual abuse, commercial exploitation, neglect, and exposure to violence of children, in Will County, IL. Our Will County CAC intake/MDT coordinator, forensic interviewers, family advocates, and trauma therapists provide the following services: * Forensic Interviews: After a child is referred to the Will County CAC by law enforcement or the IL Dept. of Family Services (DCFS), our Intake Coordinator schedules a forensic interview for the child. One of our 4 forensic interviewers listens to the child’s story and asks non-leading, developmentally-appropriate questions as the child talks about the trauma he/she has experienced. Law enforcement, prosecution, DCFS, and mental health professionals observe the interview from a separate room. This reduces trauma for the child and provides a stronger foundation if the case goes to court. * Family Advocacy: Our family advocates are committed to helping each family navigate the complex systems that a family enters when a child makes an outcry of abuse. As each case goes through the investigation, prosecution and healing process, the team is there to help the family understand the process, learn about their rights and successfully access resources that will help their family during crisis. * Trauma-Focused Therapy: Our team of licensed clinical social workers provide short-term, trauma informed therapy to children who have received a forensic interview. Since child abuse affects the whole family, the services are available at no cost to both the child and their non-offending family members. Individual and group therapy is offered in English and Spanish.

150th.
On Saturday, August 8th,
come be part of Mazon’s Sesquicentennial Celebration when Junk in
the Trunk Morris holds an outdoor Flea Market in Mazon. The location
is Finders Flea Mart, 503 Grundy Street (follow signs from Rt. 47). Our
independent vendors will be open for business from
9AM until 4PM,
offering shoppers a wide
variety of items at excellent prices.
Shop for items outside and then continue the treasure hunt inside Finders Flea’s large
barn. When inside don’t
miss the freshly prepared food at Mama K’s Grill, with breakfast
served from 9AM until 10:30, and lunch available until 4PM. Both dine
in and carry out options are available. If
you would like to be a vendor in
Mazon
on August 8th,
it is not too
late as advance registration
is not required. Simply
arrive at 8AM, pay
the $15 vendor fee, and take an available spot.
Vendors with small
trailers are welcome without an additional charge, and there is no
admission fee for shoppers. Proceeds
from vendor fees received
at this event will be
donated to the Mazon
American Legion.

This Saturday, August 8, The Timbers of Shorewood will host its first "Young &amp; Creative Market" from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., providing a platform for local youth to display their entrepreneurial spirit and creative skills.
The event will feature a variety of handmade crafts, unique artwork, and baked goods created by talented young vendors. Attendees are encouraged to shop local, support the next generation of business owners, and enjoy a coffee from the Rise &amp; Pour Coffee Cart while browsing the selection. Admission to the market is free for the entire community.
"We love seeing the creativity and ambition of our community’s young people, and we are thrilled to host this market as a way to support their small business dreams," said Sheila Albor, director of marketing at The Timbers of Shorewood. "It’s going to be a wonderful, fun-filled morning of shopping, snacks, and supporting local talent, and we invite everyone in Shorewood to come out and cheer these young entrepreneurs on."
