Season Opener Approaches For 19th Annual Plainfield Farmers Market
Plainfield Farmers Market shoppers can expect a wide variety of vendors that will shift weekly.
PLAINFIELD, IL — The 19th season of the Plainfield Farmers Market will kick off Sunday with a variety of vendors.
The farmers market will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays through Sept. 13 in the parking lot of the Plainfield Area Public Library, off Lockport and Illinois streets.
Depending on the weather, between 500 and 1,000 people will visit the market each week.

"My whole goal of starting this market was to bring people downtown," farmers market organizer Suzy Bostanche told Patch.
Shoppers will have access to a variety of fresh produce, meats, eggs, artisan cheeses, baked goods and handmade items for the summer. Freeze-dried fruits and vegetables, pancakes, hot dogs, flowers, wood crafts, men's beauty products, dog treats and alpaca items will be among the unique offerings.

"This just a sampling of what we have," Bostanche said.
Visitors will also be able to visit restaurant stands to grab food to munch on while perusing the market. Options will include Mexican food, avocado-driven fare, charcuterie and crepes.
Nonprofit organizations will also table at the market. The Plainfield Art League, Rotary Club of Plainfield and Plainfield Pride are slated to participate.
The vendors will change weekly, so Bostanche said she can't share a list of who will be at the market each Sunday.
In scouting and selecting vendors, Bostanche operates with the goal of giving market-goers a plethora of vendors to choose from.
"There's a lot of different products," she said. "… I try to change it up so it's not the same people selling the same things in the same place. If you know me that's what I'm about."
