Dozens of local officials, constituents, business owners, state officials, chamber members, school board members and community leaders gathered for the opening of State Senator Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant's district office on June 13th with a ribbon cutting ceremony.  The senator began her first term as a member of the 98th General Assembly and opened up shop in Plainfield, January of 2013.  As a new district she represents all or part of Bolingbrook, Crest Hill, Joliet, Oswego, Plainfield, Channahon, Naperville, Aurora, Romeoville and Shorewood.  The office is located on Route 59 and is open Monday through Friday, 9am to 4:30pm.

The newly elected senator is a lifelong educator with 18 years of local school district experience, culminating in her position as the regional school superintendent for Will County.  Impassioned by her history as both an educator and an education advocate, Senator Bertino-Tarrant plans to continue to fight for public schools, education funding and school resources now that she has a seat at the legislative table. She has also been involved in a family owned small-business and remains a constant voice for the small-businesses community.  Not surprisingly, she is committed to strengthening job creation and bolstering the economy through fostering business at the local level.

Senator Bertino-Tarrant’s background in education and local business, have served her well in her appointments to the Senate Education Committee, Local Government Committee and Labor & Commerce Committee. She also serves on the Transportation Committee and State Government & Veterans Affairs Committee.

At the Plainfield office constituents can voice their thoughts and opinions regarding current or pending legislation.  The staff is familiar with the local service agencies to direct constituents who call needing assistance.  The office can also intercede on constituents’ behalf regarding a series of issues or cases; FOID card applications, assistance with Medicare paperwork, healthcare issues, assistance with food stamps or child support services as well as foreclosure prevention and disability or veteran issues.  Feel free to contact the office by phone at 815-254-4211, by email at bertinotarrant49@att.net or by the website at www.senatorbertinotarrant.com
