Shop With A Cop Brings Cheer To 40 Plainfield-Area Families

Plainfield officers took 40 local students Christmas shopping on Friday.

PLAINFIELD, IL — On Friday, Dec. 22, the Plainfield Police Department held its annual Shop With A Cop event at Target located at 12800 S. Route 59 in Plainfield. This year the Plainfield Police Department was able to provide 40 local students with $300 gift cards to Target in order to provide them and their families with holiday cheer.

The money for the Shop With A Cop Program is all donated from individuals and different events held throughout the year in conjunction with School District 202 and School District 308. These events include the 8th Grade Boys Shop With A Cop Basketball Tournament, The Battle of 127th Basketball Game, raffles that are in conjunction with the basketball games and different fund raising events each school holds to help support the program.

All the wrapping of the gifts during this event is done by the Plainfield Junior Women’s Club.
