Slim Chickens Restaurant Could Move Into Former Plainfield White Castle

The eatery is looking to retrofit the former burger joint.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A new restaurant could soon move into the old White Castle location at 13429 S. Route 59. The village board last week voted unanimously to approve a site plan review request by Slim Chickens, a fast-casual restaurant looking to retrofit the building for the new chicken restaurant.

Currently, Slim Chickens has locations in Bloomington, Champaign and East Peoria, with plans to open in Bolingbrook and Orland Park.

Slim Chickens offers chicken tenders, wings, salads and wraps and says it "brings Southern hospitality to fast, casual dining." (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

The proposed Plainfield location is on Route 59 north of 135th Street. Planned improve a building addition on the front/west elevation to provide a focal point and differentiate Slim Chickens from the former White Castle restaurant. The applicant also plans to paint the primary brick facades and accent brick banding to go with Slim Chickens' gray and white color scheme.
