From paleontology to art to cheerleading a survival camp, there's something for everyone.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Whether your child is a budding artist, loves learning about dinosaurs, or just likes getting outside to explore, Plainfield Park District has a Special Interest Camp that will fill their summer with fun!

Special Interest camps include something for boys and girls of just about every age from 3 to 18.

Special Interest Camps include:

· Adventures in Paleontology Camp: The perfect camp for your young dinosaur lover. Each day’s activities will include getting to examine different authentic prehistoric fossils and dinosaur bones from numerous species including Triceratops and T-Rex, play games and make crafts. An adventure where kids have fun and learn too! End the camp with a chance to sit on Sarah the Triceratops for a fun photo. Please bring a water bottle and healthy snack. · Art Camp: If you haven’t joined in on one of our famously fabulous art camps yet, you’re truly missing out! Campers are introduced to a variety of artistic elements each day to keep their brains stimulated and high functioning while out of school. Each day, there will be 1-3 projects varying from crafts to fine art. These camps tend to fill up fast, so don’t delay, register today! Instructor: Art Cube Studios. · Competition Dance Camp: Dance camp is a four day camp designed for those dancers who are interested in becoming a part of the competition dance or pom teams. Whether you are a new student or returning dancer, this class will help develop your technique and skills needed in jazz, hip hop, and poms. Please wear comfortable clothing. No denim/jeans, skirts, or sandals/flip flops. Clean gym shoes are required. Please bring a water bottle and healthy snack. · Jr. Cheerleaders Camp: Basic cheerleading moves will be taught in a fun noncompetitive environment. They will learn sideline cheers, jumps, a short choreographed dance and other cheer techniques. · Nature Explorer Camp: For those who love the great outdoors. Perfect for kids ages 4-6, this camp focuses on hiking, climbing, and exploring the woods, along with fun crafts and making new friends! Registration is $95 for residents and $118 for nonresidents (Program #51490). Let’s go on an outdoor adventure! We will explore, examine and observe nature, from the ground up to the trees, all while hiking and climbing through the woods. A craft will be created out of the nature items we collect along the way. Campers should dress to get dirty. Sunblock and bug spray should be applied prior to arriving at camp. · Preschool Summer Camp: The perfect place for little campers to have a blast! Each week of camp is packed with summer games, crafts, friends, and fun for kids ages 3-6! Registration is $66 for residents and $83 for nonresidents (Program #51123). Enjoy fun topics throughout the summer with lots of opportunities to explore, create and PLAY! Each week, a summer theme is focused on using arts & crafts, manipulatives and outdoor play. Participants bring a lunch to eat with their friends. LA

· Rah Rah Rascals: Kids ages 4-6 will love this cheerleading-themed camp that focuses on balance, coordination and teamwork, all while making friends and having fun! Registration is $47 for residents and $61 for nonresidents (Program #51200). Introduce your little ones to the world of cheerleading! They will learn basic arm moves, simple cheers and jumps. Working on these basic things each day will help enhance coordination and balance, along with building self-esteem. Please wear comfortable clothing and gym shoes. Bring a water bottle. · Survival Camp: A camp to test your skills at surviving if you ever got lost in the woods. This 3-day camp will teach skills and survival techniques to can help you survive in those situations! Be a good survivor by dressing for the weather, wear sunscreen, long pants, bug spray and don’t forget your water bottle. All materials included. Instructor: Emily Brooks. · Girls Just Want to Have Fun: It’s great to be a girl in this camp for girls ages 4-6 who love listening to music, making crafts, meeting new friends. Every day, we will create a special project to take home. Come celebrate all things ‘girl’! Registration is $85 for residents and $106 for nonresidents (Program #51460). Are you a girl that enjoys making crafts, listening to music and making new friends? Come hang out with the girls and get involved in some girly things. · Boyz Will Be Boyz: A camp for boys who like building, creating, and making a mess! Boys ages 4-6 will enjoy a fun and creative environment while learning social skills. Registration is $85 for residents and $106 for nonresidents (Program #51480).
