Spectrum Youth Singers To Debut New Original Song At Spring Concert

The Plainfield-based choir's show will feature "the beauty of young voices" singing songs by American and Canadian composers.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A local youth choir is gearing up to host its annual spring concert and an audition for potential members this May.

Spectrum Youth Singers, a community group that aims to enrich "the lives of young people through choral music," will perform a concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at Plainfield Congregational United Church of Christ, 24020 W. Fraser Road. The show will feature "the beauty of young voices" singing songs by American and Canadian composers.

A highlight of the concert will be the world premiere of a song that Spectrum Youth Singers helped create with a composer from New York, according to Oksana Rodak, the group's artistic director.

Tickets to the show, which can be purchased at the door, are $10 for adults and $5 for children.

The following week, on May 9, the choir will host a free "try-us-out" rehearsal for children in grades 5 to 11 interested in joining the 2023-24 season. Auditions will be held May 9 and May 16.
