'Speechless' Author to Visit Plainfield Library

Do you have a middle-grade student in your life who loves books? Then don’t miss out on this opportunity!

Book lovers of all ages are invited to hear Adam P. Schmitt, author of the brand new middle-grade novel “Speechless,” talk about the writing process, share information on his new book and answer your questions on Monday, January 7 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Plainfield Public Library.

Schmitt, who is a middle school teacher from Oswego, will be available to sign books after the presentation. Books will be available for purchase.

A humorous yet powerful look at middle school relationships, “Speechless” is Schmitt’s first novel.

From the publisher Candlewick Press: “As if being stuffed into last year’s dress pants at his cousin’s wake weren’t uncomfortable enough, thirteen-year-old Jimmy has just learned from his mother that he has to say a few words at the funeral the next day. Why him? What could he possibly say about his cousin, who ruined everything they did? He can’t recall one birthday party, family gathering, or school event with Patrick that didn’t result in injury or destruction.

The Plainfield Public Library is located at 15025 S. Illinois St. in downtown Plainfield. Registration for the free event is required. This program is recommended for those in grades 3 and up.
