St. Mary Immaculate Parish School Celebrates Fire Prevention
Thank you to the Plainfield Fire Department for helping the students to be better prepared for a fire emergency!

St. Mary’s Celebrates Fire Prevention Week
Fire Prevention Week is on record as the longest running public health observance, according to the National Archives and Records Administration’s Library Information Center. The Early Childhood students at St. Mary Immaculate School were recently visited from the Plainfield Fire Department. The firefighters talked to us about how to prevent fires and what to do in case of fire.
They went over many useful things with the students such as: two escape routes out of their homes, finding a meeting place, throwing toys out their windows for the firefighters to find them, how to call for help on a cell phone and what questions the dispatcher may ask. The firefighters shared an app with them to help children practice calling 911. It is called DialSafePro. It allows children to practice calling 911 and answer the questions from a dispatcher.
After the presentation, the kids were able to take a look at the fire engine and then walk through the cab. Thank you to the Plainfield Fire Department for helping the students to be better prepared for a fire emergency!
