Traffic & Transit
Start Of School Raises Concerns About Trains, Traffic: Letter
With the first day of school Aug. 16 in Plainfield, a reader voices concerns over traffic.

Submitted letter to the editor:
I am a Plainfield resident and have concerns regarding the upcoming school year. With the extreme amount of traffic that we currently have and school is not even in session on 135th and Route 30, what kind of steps are being taken for the Plainfield North school along with the trains that constantly go by anywhere between 6:30 - 7:00 every morning?
The traffic has really become horrendous in this area with the amount of trains that go through daily. I leave my house daily to go to work in Hinsdale every day by 6:40 to start work at 8:00 just to make sure I don't get stuck in all the traffic. With school starting it is about to get bad again.

It used to be so nice living in Plainfield before all the houses were built towards Heggs and such. Now 135th is just horrible to get down; even by Menards the light is not long enough for enough vehicles to get thru at the 4:30 - 5:00 rush to get home. Then you get stopped by the train at that time as well.
The village has put down the censor markers on the streets to see the amount of vehicles that go through, but I also work for a Village and the Engineers say that is just for show so the people think something is being done about the traffic.
