State Senator to Hold Kids Fair in Plainfield

Storytelling, live animals, crafts, treats and local mascots and characters will be on hand to entertain the kids.

PLAINFIELD, IL — State Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, D-Shorewood, will hold a Kids Fair for elementary students in February. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, at Troy Middle School, 5800 W. Theodore St.

“I wanted to give area students and their parents an opportunity to attend a fun, educational event when schools are closed for Presidents Day,” Bertino-Tarrant said.

More than 30 organizations will be participating.

Storytelling, live animals, crafts, treats, and local mascots and characters will be on hand to entertain the kids. In addition, free haircuts will be given by the Salon Professional Academy from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Special events, such as a martial arts demonstration, dance performance and musical performance by DUCAP’s Rise UP, will also take place.

“I would like to thank participating organizations for helping make this event possible,” Bertino-Tarrant said. “I look forward to meeting all of the children and parents who attend.”
