State Senator: I Work Only for the Taxpayers
A letter from State Senator Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant.

The following is a letter to the editor submitted by State Senator Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant
As your state senator, I work only for you, the taxpayers of the 49th district. I work tirelessly to be accessible and reliable to families across the district and I am committed to fight for you and your interests in the Illinois Senate.
In the Illinois Senate, I have worked with both Democrats and Republicans to sponsor over fifty pieces of legislation. My record has meant more money for our schools, more jobs in our community, and less red-tape for our small businesses. I have cut my own pay and reduced legislative perks.

I decided to run for a second term because I want to continue my work to ensure our small-businesses thrive, our students are given access to a quality education, and the most vulnerable receive the services they need. I believe in the potential of our community, Will County, and Illinois.
This has been an unprecedented campaign for the 49th State Senate District. With millions being spent against me in negative and misleading ads.

Unlike my opponent, Plainfield School District President Michelle Smith, I have never once voted to increase your taxes. Throughout Smith’s tenure on the Plainfield School Board, she raised taxes by 28 percent, adding more than $1,000 to the average homeowner’s property tax bill. We need tax relief, not more taxes. That’s why I’ve voted to freeze your property taxes.
I am proud to be endorsed by organizations that represent teachers, police-officers, fire-fighters, small business owners, retirees, responsible gun-owners, and working families throughout the 49th District and Illinois.
I’m a fourth generation Joliet-area resident. This is my home. I share your concerns. I want our community to be safe and succeed. If you send me back to Springfield, I will continue to fight tirelessly for you. I will continue to reach out to you, to seek your input, and to represent you to the best of my ability.
On or before Nov. 8, I humbly ask for your vote for State Senate, 49th District.
Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant
State Senator, 49th District
