Steven L. Zimmer, 83, of Plainfield
Steve dedicated his life to his family and his church. He served as Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus #5573.

Steven L. Zimmer, age 83, a resident of Plainfield, IL since 1995, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025 at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Chicago on January 11, 1942.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Marci (nee Mueller); his loving children, Katherine (Gregory) Mueller of Naperville, IL and Steven (Julie) Zimmer of Rolling Meadows, IL; his cherished grandchildren, Benjamin and Jonathan Mueller, Riley, Alexis (fiancé Austin Durbin) and Zachary Zimmer and his great-granddaughter, Ava Mueller; his dear sister, Patricia Neubauer and brother-in-law, Roger Finnell; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Blanche Zimmer.

Steve was a devout Catholic who was dedicated to his church. He was an active fourth degree Knight of Columbus and member of the Good Shepherd Council #5573 at St. Mary Immaculate Church, Plainfield. He served the Council in many capacities over the years including as Grand Knight.
A master dance instructor, Steve loved to dance and teach ballroom dancing. He was a die-hard Chicago White Sox fan, much to the chagrin of his family who rooted for Cubs. Throughout his life he enjoyed driving his Corvette, spending time at his lake house in Wisconsin, and living life to the fullest. Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to Steve’s life, memorial donations may be directed to St. Mary Immaculate Church.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 3, 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 4, 10:30 AM at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield. The Mass will be live streamed on the church YouTube channel for those who are unable to attend in person. Interment will be private.
