There is still time apply for health insurance, tax credits and subsidies.  The next deadline for applications is February 15th.  Policies applied for by February 15th can be effective as early as March 1st. 

The policies under the Affordable Care Act (also referred to Obamacare) do not exclude people because of their medical history.  These policies will also cover pre-existing conditions and some people will qualify for a tax credit toward the premiums and out of pocket expenses. 

Under the Affordable Care Act , you have the ability to purchase a private health insurance plan through the government website or directly through the insurance company. 

If your income falls within the guidelines for the tax credit and/or out of pocket subsidy, you will want to purchase your plan through the healthcare.gov website. 

The open enrollment period ends on March 31st for both on and off exchange plans.
