Third F Foundation To Host Inaugural Turkey Trot In Plainfield

Runners can race in a 5K or one-mile youth fun run at the nonprofit's first Turkey Trot at Community Park at Grande Park.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield-based Third F Foundation will host its inaugural Turkey Trot 5K and one-mile youth fun run Nov. 19.

The nonprofit organization's mission is "to support and empower these partners, through both funding and manpower, to help them fulfill their missions," its website reads.

For its first Thanksgiving-themed run, the Foundation is inviting not only runners but also families with walkers and strollers to join. Community Park at Grande Park, a Plainfield area park run by the Oswegland Park District, will be the site of the upcoming race.

The one-mile race will begin at 8:45 a.m., and the 5K will start at 9 a.m. at 26333 Grande Park Blvd.

Following the runs, prizes — in the form of frozen turkeys and gift cards from DNA Active Lifestyle Outfitters — will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place finishers in both the men's and women's divisions.

With two weeks before the Turkey Trot, runners still have time left to register. It costs $40 to enter the 5K, a fee that covers race entry, a shirt — if registered before Nov. 5 — a turkey leg meal and beer or drinks after the race.

Runners can pick up packets in advance, on Nov. 18, at DNA Active Lifestyle Outfitters, 24210 W. Lockport St., or at the park starting at 7 a.m. on the day of.
