This tiny stowaway from China,

15 years or so ago, set up shop in the northeastern US and southeastern Canada and has been moving west and south ever since.

Beautiful White Ash and Green Ash trees were popular replacements for elm trees in the 1960 and 1970s that were decimated by Dutch Elm disease.  I remember the day our 40 foot tall Elm had to come down in 1966.  Now the biggest most majestic Ash trees are no match for the EAB.  Over 50,000,000 trees, maybe more have succumbed to the life cycle of this pest without any natural predators.  Here in Plainfield, you don't have to look very far to see the devastating effects of an unmitigated infestation of the slow killing life cycle of the EAB.  More later on this daily post...take a look at the life cycle of this tiny insect doing so much damage.
