Tischler's Manager Swindled Business Out Of $92,000: Plainfield Police
The owner of the grocery store on South Route 59 found about 847 voided cash transactions totaling more than $90,000, police said.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A manager at Tischler's Market in Plainfield is accused of stealing more than $90,000 from the meat market and deli, Plainfield police said Tuesday.
A grand jury indicted 57-year-old Robert S. Emanuelson Jan. 22 on two felony charges of theft following a "lengthy and thorough" three-month investigation by Plainfield police, officials said in a news release.
The owner of the store, 15412 S. Route 59, originally went to the police on Oct. 15, alleging Emanuelson had been voiding completed cash transactions and keeping the money for personal use.

"Documentation supporting this allegation was provided to police," Cmdr. Anthony Novak wrote in the news release.
Emanuelson, of the 24600 block of Patriot Square Drive South in Plainfield, was arrested later that day and charged with misdemeanor theft. His employment was also terminated, Novak told Patch.

About two weeks later, police said the owner discovered that Emanuelson's theft was much larger than originally believed. Having completed an internal audit, the owner found about 847 voided cash transactions totaling approximately $92,709.04, dating back to Jan. 1, 2025, according to Novak.
Novak said his understanding is that the owner believed Emanuelson was responsible for all voided cash transactions.
Plainfield police reopened the investigation, and after about three months, they pursued felony charges against Emanuelson. His arraignment is scheduled for March 5, according to court documents.
Anyone with information about the investigation is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Ron Mikos at 815-267-7237.
