Tornado Warning Issued For Plainfield, Oswego, Shorewood During Severe Thunderstorm

PLAINFIELD, IL — A tornado warning will remain in effect for southeastern Kendall County and northwestern Will County until 4 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service said.

A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Shorewood and Plainfield at 3:27 p.m., the weather service reported. The system was moving south at about 25 mph.

"Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter," the weather service said.

The weather service warned that mobile homes, roofs, windows, vehicles and trees will likely be damaged.

Residents are encouraged to seek shelter in a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor and avoid any windows.

"If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris," officials said.
