Troy Scholastic Bowl Teams Take First at Junior High Academic Bowl
This was Troy Community School District 30-C's third year to participate in the bowl.

Both the Troy Middle School 8th grade and 7th grade Scholastic Bowl Teams took First Place at the 16th Annual Junior High Academic Bowl, hosted by Providence Catholic High School on October 1. Teams from 21 schools were involved in the competition.
On the 8th grade team were Kelly Rappaport, Lauren Vanmeter, Julianna Crompton, Tabitha Barowsky and Julianna Byrne.
The 7th grade team consisted of Tiffany Trizna, Wally Nowacki, Sarah Shay, Brandon Price and Etta Sklar.

Troy Scholastic Bowl members who placed individually were Julie Wang (8th grade) 1st place in mathematics; Sean Zarobsky (7th grade) 1st in mathematics; Etta Sklar (7th grade) 1st in geography; Julianna Crompton (8th grade) 2nd in science; Tabitha Barowsky (8th grade) 2nd in mathematics; Alexander Brown (7th grade) 2nd in language arts; Lauryn Jarosz (8th grade) 3rd in social studies; Tiffany Trizna (7th grade) 3rd in language arts; Sarah Shay (7th grade) 3rd in science; Sydney Kurtyak (8th grade) 5th in language arts; Ben McCune (8th grade) 5th in social studies; and Brandon Price (7th grade) 5th place in mathematics.
"We are so proud of the academic ability of our students and are excited when they are recognized for it in this way,” said Troy Middle School Scholastic Bowl Coach Dr. Barbara Will-Henn. “They are truly the building blocks of our future."

This was Troy Community School District 30-C’s third year to participate in the bowl. Will-Henn said the competition involved hour-long multiple choice exams taken in each student’s area of expertise.
