Trustee Peck Lashes Out Bizarrely at Trustee Bonuchi
Former friends and allies, they've had a deep falling out. But, only one of them seems to be losing his marbles and common sense
Yesterday, Plainfield Village Trustee and widely loathed civic cancer, Garrett Peck, posted a strange and stupid statement about Trustee Margie Bonuchi on his Facebook page (image above). Then he doubled down on the dumb by enthusiastically making it publicly available. He wanted people to “share” it, and share they did.
Here’s the text of Peck’s very whiny raving. Let’s break it down, poorly written piece by poorly written piece. The paragraph breaks are mine, for legibility, and my comments are in brackets following the bold text of his words:
“This post is to inform the residents of Plainfield Precinct 8, [because they all follow him on FB?!] that if Margie Bonuchi contacts them and tells them to run for Precinct Committeeman [I doubt Margie Bonuchi is “telling” anyone to run for any office, but I would believe she might be encouraging people--to quote Garrett Peck: Is that illegal?], because I am not running she is being untruthful [doesn’t have the guts to flat out call her a liar, or can’t break his habit of parsing words for maximum deniability later].

I have never made any statements verbally or in writing [sure, but what about saying it with interpretive dance, or using flag semaphore!?] that I am not interested in running again.
I have now received two different phone calls [ooh, TWO calls from TWO different people--après moi, le deluge!] regarding this matter [from tattle-tales or just from people asking out of curiosity?] and I am thankful that I have honest neighbors [alas, neighbors don’t say the same about him] and friends [not honest ones, he doesn’t] who have always supported me even through tough times.

I thank God every day [this just in from God: “leave me out of your nonsense“] for the strength and wisdom to see who true friends are and who the expedient individuals are who lie and manipulate others to get ahead [Wow! This Pot must have The Kettle on speed-dial!].
This is a strength and ability that has come to me painfully [the humble-brag of all super hero martyrs!] as I have had the difficult task of sorting out several “Friends” who have proven to be disingenuous as their loyalties blow with the political wind [that’s not all that blows--so do this guy’s notions about loyalty and friendship].”
Once again, notice how EVERYTHING in Peck’s life is political. Now who’s the wind sock? If Garrett Peck got the flu, he’d whine that a virus had mounted a politically motivated attack on his tummy because of a vendetta. The concept of the vendetta is very big with Peck, probably because he’s very driven by vendettas. Thus this pathetic FB post of his.
Following Peck’s crazy-post were comments, giving support. From a whopping three people, with nine additional people Liking his post.
It’s worth noting that nearly all, if not all, of those few people are not residents within the precinct he’s so desperate to control. Ironically, a comment about how good politicians behave and serve comes from a guy who got a hand-out patronage job from Peck back when Peck had his own not-so-swell politicians snag him a patronage gig at the Plainfield Township Park District! This same guy is also documented in emails of the time as working for Peck (along with the recently fired Doug Booth) on the secret install of spyware on PTPD staff computers. If you’re thinking that sounds like the project of a paranoid, decidedly unfriendly idiot with a vendetta, you are right. That stupid stunt was funded by taxpayers, like all of Peck’s wasteful and shady spending at PTPD. It takes some real cognitive dissonance for this same “true friend” to say that politicians who can’t think beyond getting re-elected hurt everyone. That is exactly as far as Peck’s thought process ever goes. He’s a bit cross-eyed and I think it’s from standing too close to a mirror all the time.
No one in Precinct 8 or anywhere else ought to fall for Peck’s garbage and I think the numbers show that fewer and fewer do. He’s circling the bowl.
Beneath the surface, it is really indicative of a psychological and/or intellectual disorder for Garrett Peck to be saying that Margie Bonuchi--if she actually did what he’s claiming--did anything wrong. How is it an outrage for anyone to speak to anyone about running for any public office? Does Peck consider Precinct 8 his personal property or something he’s entitled to, so how dare anyone even suggest that others can run there? I still remember him running his hapless girlfriend for a committeeman spot in another precinct last time around, driven by his own vendetta against another committeeman whom Peck deemed not a ”true friend”. She lost, as expected.
Maybe Trustee Bonuchi mentioned, and people mistook for being about the precinct, the fact that Peck recently made, more than a year and a half before the 2017 elections where it would be relevant, a showy announcement that he won’t be running for trustee again because he’s going to pursue simultaneous Master’s degrees in business admin and computer science. Having seen the civic efforts and capabilities of Peck on display in this town since about 2006, he’s more likely to ride a unicorn into the drive-through at McDonald’s for a Shamrock Shake than he is to finish even one graduate program.
I often disagree with Margie Bonuchi, but she has always treated me well, been willing to talk, faces criticism and praise equally, etc. Agree or disagree, I respect Margie for always swinging for the fences. The woman is always in motion, doesn’t quit. Doesn’t mean that I think she’s always doing the right thing with all that energy. That’s okay, neither of us is required to agree with the other. As a woman, I admire other women who do the hard work of putting themselves on the line for what they want and/or believe in a society that still would prefer they sit down and shut up.
Basically, she’s a better person than Garrett Peck. But, seriously, how hard is that?!
I know she wants to run for Plainfield Mayor, i.e., Village Board President. Another irony here is that it was Garrett Peck who back in the day used to tell people that they should forget about running for mayor because he ”promised that to Margie”. This was when they were friends and he was always stupidly giving loud, public voice to his delusions of being a king maker. Now he couldn’t draw a picture of a crown let alone snag one for anyone, and out of his desperation for power and relevance in and around Plainfield, Garrett Peck can’t resist yelling at and about Margie Bonuchi and anyone else who isn’t his ”true friend”.
Tell me again who’s friendship and loyalty is rooted self-promotion and politically doled out?
