TV Tribute To Plainfield Vet: Filming Is Thursday On Route 59
"Garage Squad" will restore Cpl. Brandon Meyers' 1968 Chevelle for a "big reveal" later this month.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Cpl. Brandon Meyers was a car enthusiast — so much so that his parents, David and Wendy Meyers of Plainfield, host a fundraiser car show in his memory each year to help provide other veterans with PTSD with service dogs. At the time of his death, the 25-year-old Marine Corps veteran was restoring his prized 1968 Chevelle. Before he could complete the project, Brandon — known to friends and family as "Bubba" — succumbed to PTSD, taking his own life in June 2013. Now, a cable TV show will help the family finish Meyers' dream car.
The Velocity channel's "Garage Squad" will film in Plainfield the weeks of Aug. 8 and Aug. 14 at the Meyers family home. During filming, Brandon's Chevelle will be completed in time for a big reveal on Aug. 17.
Through Operation Welcome You Home, a Naperville non-profit dedicated to aiding local servicemen and women, area veterans and supporters are asked to show up for the taping of the Aug. 17 reveal.
