Veterans Day 2019: What's Open, Closed In Plainfield
On Nov. 11, the Village of Plainfield offices will be closed in observance of Veterans Day.

PLAINFIELD, IL - Veterans Day will be observed this Monday. The holiday originally started as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country's service and was originally called Armistice Day. However, in 1954, the holiday was changed to "Veterans Day" in order to account for all veterans in all wars.
On Nov. 11, the Village of Plainfield offices will be closed in observance of Veterans Day. However, according to village officials, the holiday will not change the recycling and yard waste pickup of residents.

What's Closed
- Local, state and federal offices
- Public libraries
- Post offices
- Most banks will be closed to observe the holiday
What's Open
The following will be open at the business owner's discretion:
- Restaurants
- Gas stations
- Convenience stores
- Liquor stores
- Retail stores (check with your local retailers first)
- Public schools located in the Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 will be in session Monday
