Video Display Scoreboards Coming to District 202 High Schools
Each scoreboard could bring in up to $40,000 a year in ad revenue.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Stadiums at Plainfield high schools will be getting a little fancier when District 202 installs new video display scoreboards.
The scoreboards will cost $583,600 in total and be paid for through the district’s construction fund, which by law is allocated only to construction-related projects, according to District 202 Director of Community Relations Tom Hernandez.

Plainfield Central and South will be the first to receive the boards and should be up and running by the time football season begins in September, Hernandez said. Plainfield East and West scoreboards should be installed around the same time in 2017.
It’s hoped the scoreboards will serve as a potential revenue stream for the district, as each one could bring in up to $40,000 a year by selling ads.

“It opens the door for community groups to use those football fields and for us to give another venue to the community to promote programs and special events,” Hernandez said.
Over a period of a couple years, the boards could pay for themselves.
