Vietnam Re-Enactment Monday At Plainfield Central

School officials want to make residents aware of the demonstration, which will use blanks but is expected to be very loud.

PLAINFIELD, IL -- If it sounds like a warzone at Plainfield Central High School on Monday, it's for a good reason.

Social studies teacher Steve Lamberti is planning a special program for April 10 about the life of a soldier during the Vietnam conflict. Lamberti hosts similar events based on war-related topics -- usually one per semester -- with a Plainfield Central alum who specializes in war re-enactments.

The April 10 program will include an outdoor battle re-enactment with a semi-automatic rifle demonstration. Demonstrators will be using blanks, and the demonstration is safe but will be very loud, according to a release from District 202.

Plainfield police have been notified about the demonstration.

School officials are spreading the word about the program, which is very powerful and popular with students but has in the past drawn concern from residents of the area who might not be aware that it is a demonstration.
