The 24-year-old Plainfield woman was issued an ordinance complaint after unlawfully firing a handgun in the air Sept. 1.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A 24-year-old Plainfield woman was cited after police discovered she fired a "warning shot" in the air as she witnessed two people attempt to burglarize her boyfriend's car Sept. 1, according to police.

Montgomery C. Armstrong was listed in Tuesday's arrest report summary from the Plainfield Police Department. Commander Anthony Novak told Patch she received an ordinance complaint for unlawfully discharging a firearm within the Village of Plainfield.

Police responded to the 15100 block of Wood Farm Road around 9:20 p.m. Sept. 1 after receiving reports of shots fired. Through an investigation, officers determined the woman saw two suspects in her boyfriend's car without permission trying to burglarize it.
