PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield will host a public information meeting Wednesday evening to discuss more improvements coming to the Old Town neighborhood.

The Old Town improvement project began in 2021, with the first phase rehabilitating the existing sanitary sewer mains and services as well as cleaning out sanitary sewers. The second phase focused on utility improvements along Lockport Street, in the area known as Old Town North. The final phase, completed this year, consisted of a full roadway reconstruction of Old Town North.

Up next, the sidewalks and pedestrian crossings of the Canadian National Railway at Center Street, Eastern Avenue and Lockport Street will be redone. Design engineering is expected to be completed in 2027, and construction is anticipated in 2028, the village said.
