Will County Back To School Fair Set

Parents can get information and resources including health services, school/sports physicals and more.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Diocese Catholic Charities will host its 26th annual Back To School Fair for low-income parents with children up to age 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at Joliet Catholic Academy, 1200 N. Larkin Ave.

At the fair, parents can receive school supplies (grades K-12) and services and information including:

  • Heath services
  • Vision and hearing tests
  • Lead screening
  • School/sports physicals
  • Dental exams
  • Asthma screenings
  • Nutrition
  • Education
  • Child development
  • Basic haircuts
  • Blood donation
  • Employment
  • Housing
  • Legal needs
  • Financial needs

Health services are free and available from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Legal guardians must be present.

To receive supplies and services, parents must bring identification for all household members (state ID, driver's license, passport or Mexican consulate ID for adults; birth certificate, social security card, medical card or Mexican consulate ID for children). Parents must also be able to show proof of income (public aid printouts, social security, unemployment, foods stamps, Link card, check stubs or medical card) and verification of address (current utility bill or government mail showing Will County address).

The Will County Health Department is also providing immunizations at its Joliet, Monee and Bolingbrook locations all summer.
