Wolfgang G. Meissner, age 74, a longtime resident of Plainfield, IL, formerly of Des Plaines and Franklin Park, IL, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook in Bolingbrook IL. He was born on July 24, 1951, in Berlin, Germany.

Beloved husband of the late Darlene Meissner (née Jasper), whom he married on June 13, 1987 and who preceded him in death on November 19, 1995, devoted son of the late Gerhard and Annmarie (née Lipek) Meissner, loving brother of Regine Meissner, Gabriele (Randy) Doyle and Annadore (James) Alley, adored uncle of the late Annmarie Doyle, Hardy Doyle and Nathaniel Doyle; Steven (Faith) Alley and David Alley, great-uncle of Levi and Beatrix Alley and friend of many.

Wolfgang grew up in Des Plaines, IL and attended Maine West High School (Class of 1969). He studied Geology at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and was employed as a machinist for many years with Comet Die & Engraving Co., Elmhurst, IL.

Wolfgang was a model train enthusiast and enjoyed geology, nature, photography and many other hobbies.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, 2:00-5:00 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home, 15219 Joliet Rd. (Corner of Rt. 30 and Rt. 59), Plainfield, IL 60544.

Interment will be private.
